This is the worst place—my loved one died after getting an infection here and going into septic shock

From the moment we stepped into the front lobby of University Care Center, we were warmly greeted by Maria. The facility has made an excellent choice in hiring her as the front-line representative. Despite the facility’s busy nature, especially during peak hours, Maria maintains her composure and a warm smile throughout the day. Her friendly, polite, and helpful demeanor makes her an invaluable asset to the team. She communicates effectively with patients regarding their appointments, ensuring that they feel comfortable and informed. You can count on her! The nursing staff and medical team have all been nothing but friendly and accommodating. I’m glad my brother chose University Care for his spine surgery rehab. A special shoutout to the physical therapy team, social services, and housekeeping. Expect this facility to be bustling with activity. The hallways are filled with staff members, each with a specific job to do. There’s never a dull moment at UCC! As for the meals, my brother didn’t eat much, but he was spoiled by his friends and family who brought him food from shops and restaurants when they visited. I must give the meals some credit because each meal was prepared fresh, neatly presented, and covered. Again, my brother made the best choice with University Care. The 17-mile and 20-minute drive was worth it me….my brother was worth the visit. University Care provided excellent care and support to my brother. UCC, you all made a big difference in my brother’s life and helped him stay on a positive path. His recovery journey continues with chemotherapy. Thank you, UCC! You da the best 👍🏼

Excellent Care Team & Nursing home!

This place is not somewhere you want to let you’re loved ones or family stay, the nurses don’t come when they are requested (with call button) and when you finally get someone to listen to what you’re asking for they say they’ll get someone else and no one shows up. The phones that they issue in the rooms don’t work all the time and there are no cooling systems in the rooms. It is insanely humid and hot in the rooms and it is the middle of winter my father has a broken leg and arm and no one from the physical therapy team came to help him to his wheelchair so he could get out of bed.

WARNING TO ALL!!! Do not bring your loved ones here!!! I came here Nov.29,2024. It was great when I first got here. Then things began to change. They have had alot of drug addics here lately. Employees were quiting, and less staff. It was starting to effect patients. Then one CNA, Xavier, I had many problems with, I went to DON, Richard Castaneda, who said he had an abrasive personality, finally he injured me. All they did was move him to their other facility, Balboa. They have been running this facility on less staff, causing less care for patents. Then some patents were sitting in their own faces over night. This happens often. Then you have RN’s committing fraud by charting they give you medicine, that you didn’t recieve, and I had to ask why?, and medical record fraud, but they don’t. Then you have CNA’s, committing medical record fraud too. The head of the CNA”s, Sonnya Soyles Ghawni, said to do minimal for the patient. Instead of addressing the problems the punish the patents. Ongoing investgation. Their response was: We appreciate your honestly reviews. We set a high standard for ourselves, so we are disapointed to hear that your experience with us was not a positive one. The management team has been made aware and willwork towards a solution to make positive changes with your stay. They brought me to a care conference and told me the RN made a clericaal error. It is still a felony with the medical record, and to tell me to calm down, and to not post what I did. It was just a scare tactic to shut me up. So it’s been alot of retalation, waking me up at all hours of the night, and other things. They continue doing the things I have noted in here. To top it off, they deleted my reviews and blocked me from responding to my first review. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

My auntie stayed here and had an incredible experience. The staff was very genuine and took very good care of her. They ensured that she would be taken care of and made sure to get her back to life. The staff heads and departments were all amazing!

This is the best facility ever great customer service attentive to patients best staff including department heads.

I have been a patient here for a little over a year. All the staff here has treated me really well while I have been here. I see them as family now. All the CNAs take care of me when I am down. I am doing therapy and all the therapists have been amazing. I haven’t really had any issues in the time I have been here. Everyone always does what I ask right away. I am very satisfied with my stay here and I would recommend this place to anyone that needs care.

I came here for physical therapy and rehab after a really bad fall. The staff was amazing. It was a beautiful facility. They were in the process of putting new doors and patios, and the staff made it very comfortable for the patients as best they could. The nurses were awesome, all the staff was very cool. Kayleen who handled the billing processing, Bird one of the nurses was amazing and I wish I could remember everybody’s names, because there was not one staff member that was not willing to take care of you. I’m very grateful for everything they all did for me. I came in at a very difficult time. Big shout out to everyone there and a big thank you for everything they did for all of the patients. They handled every situation very professionally and took care of every patient no matter what the circumstances were. thank you for all the and management and just everybody the food was fabulous which is a lot to say when you go to other facilities and you can’t say the same for them. Again, thank you everyone for making my stay as comfortable as it could be under the circumstances. To The PT, OT, and Speech Thearepy, you guys are awesome, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to go home as quickly as I did without all of your work and helping me to be strong and push myself to do better. I have been a patient here at the facility for a month or so. I came here and have been receiving therapy but in my opinion you can get help with anything you need here. I can not talk enough about how lovely the staff here has been. I enjoy going to activities they hold and socializing with other residents. They even held a meeting to ask us what we liked and didn’t like. We had a nice Easter celebration this last week. I like the food they serve here and there is a good variety. I was in another nursing home but the quality at UCC can’t compare. The staff is always smiling and laughing, it is very healing for the residents. I am always awoken with a good morning and smile. The staff here always listens to my concerns and helps me when it is needed. The spirit here is what makes the difference!

My husband was at this facility for about a month. This facility Was great, very professional, clean and very friendly staff They went above and beyond to make sure that he was comfortable. I really appreciate and if I could’ve give more than five stars, I would. thank you for a great service
